Liverpool FC have had a very heavily scrutinized summer transfer window, and with that Manager Jurgen Klopp has consistently had to be on the defensive about it. Or at the very least, answer a tremendous amount of questions pertaining to it. It’s been a persistent theme all summer along, and he’s had an evolving explanation/rationale for what’s been going on behind the scenes.
This has been going since before the Philippe Coutinho soap opera, which is a whole other major issue in and off itself.
Jurgen Klopp maintains that there could be some more deals done on deadline day, with further additions being made to the club before the midnight hour on September 1.
The German said that he will be happy though, even if the summer shopping is over.
“We work on it as you imagine,” Klopp told his weekly news conference. “I prepare for Arsenal, we are in talks, will something happen? I don’t know. Obviously this transfer window is different to all other transfer windows.”
“We’ll see what happens, yes I’m happy at the moment, will I be happy on the 31st still? I’m not sure. Will I be more happy? Possible. Until the 31st that’s how the business is, a lot of things are possible, in and out. If the transfer window closed tomorrow, I’m happy with it, that’s how it is.”
Klopp is happy with the squad that he has, but also revealed that his side convinced more players to join the team this summer, but the clubs they’re currently with just would not sell.
“We convinced all the players we spoke to. We didn’t have to tell them ‘we might play Champions League’ and then call them now (and remind them), but it’s not about us,” Klopp continued.
“It’s not about money, sometimes it’s just possible or not possible. That’s how it is.”
