Former MLB Network personality Lisa Kerney was hired by ESPN in February. The New York based Kerney moved from the CBS affiliate in NYC to Bristol. She is married to former Seattle Seahawks player Patrick Kerney.
Previously, Kerney was at KING-TV in Seattle (October 2005-10) serving as weekend sports anchor and Northwest Sports Tonight host. She was also responsible for The Jim Mora Show, which aired after every Seattle Seahawks game. Patrick Kerney played in Seattle from 2007-09. Right when Lisa Kerney was covering the team. The couple was married in early 2010.
Obviously American football is her thing, not World football, as you can see from the segment below:
Of course, to be fair, let’s see you or I do any better with that graphic.
Real Madrid beat intra-city rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final 4-1 yesterday. It was the first Champions League Final in seven years that didn’t feature either Bayern Munich or Manchester United. In looking at the Spanish rivalry, new SportsCenter anchor Lisa Kerney had major issues telling us what exactly was transpiring. Plenty of “uhhhhhh,” “uhmm” and awkward silence.
Then again, I really have no clue what was on that screen, and I would have likely totally stumbled in that situation too.
Prior to joining ESPN, Kerney had served as sports anchor for CBS 2 News This Morning since January 2012. She had also been at MLB Network where she was a sports contributor/reporter (October 2010-December 2011).
And Kerney did own up to her fail on Twitter.
Yeah, totally caught off guard…my bad, soccer friends… MT “@agroff15: “@BleacherReport: ESPN’s Lisa Kerney struggled…”
