Tottenham Hotspur Manager Tim Sherwood is massively playing the underdog card heading into their match at Premier League leaders Chelsea tomorrow. The Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League table, four points behind Manchester City for that all important fourth spot, and a Champions League berth. They are ten points behind first place Chelsea, and it’s prompting Tim Sherwood to use the “us against the world” motivation.
Or the “no one believes us but us” routine.
“Our record is so bad that we can go there and take the shackles off and enjoy the day. The only people that expect us to win are inside our dressing room,” said Sherwood.
He has a point, as his side hasn’t won at Stamford Bridge in 24 years.
“We’re going in with the pressure off us. Obviously what has happened in the past we have to put to the back of our minds.”
“We have to go there and impose ourselves and hopefully we can get a positive result, but there is absolutely no pressure on the boys, is there?” Tim Sherwood rhetorically asked.
“We’re going to go up there and give it everything. It’s a chance for them to put themselves in the record books and we’re confident that we can spring a surprise, because after all it is going to be a surprise isn’t it, if we beat Chelsea at the Bridge,” he continued.
Eden Hazard is supposed to play tomorrow and that will be a major difference maker for the Blues. Jose Mourinho remains unbeaten in 74 league matches at Stamford Bridge.
