The home of Chelsea FC, Stamford Bridge, was revealed to be the fifth most profitable ground in all of Europe. Consulting firm Deloitte ranked the stadiums in order of the revenue that they generated in the 2014/15 season.
Here’s the write-up for Stamford Bridge via TeamTalk.com:
A third Premier League stadium, Stamford Bridge, cracks the top 5. Located in Fulham, London, Chelsea’s home underwent renovations in the early 1900s and again in the 1990s and holds just shy of 42,000.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has stated a desire to expand, but restricted space has made it difficult. Eventually they’re expected to get it done, though.
Yes, indeed Chelsea are building a bridge to the future by renovating. expanding, upgrading and updating the facilities. It doesn’t help though that Tottenham Hotspur have a massive new stadium scheme for White Hart Lane at the same exact time. This situation does make it much harder to procure a temporary home stadium.
The English Premier League dominated the list with Arsenal (The Emirates) #1, Manchester United (Old Trafford) #4, Liverpool (Anfield) #8 and Manchester City (Etihad) #9. Thus the EPL comprised half the top ten.
