Chelsea striker Diego Costa, currently serving a three match ban in the Premier League, has been dropped by Spain for their final two Euro qualifiers. Spain Manager Vincente Del Bosque has both left Costa out, and condemned his recent actions, which led to sanctioning by the Football Association.
Del Bosque said: โWhat he did was unedifying, and that is why he was punished. Of course, I didnโt like what he did.โ
The Spanish boss said the decision to drop Costa was made after he was booked in Macedonia and then banned for the forthcoming double header.
โHe canโt play the first game through suspension and weโve decided not to bring him. He hasnโt played badly and itโs not on merit,โ Del Bosque said.
Del Bosque isn’t the only high profile football personality who has ripped Diego Costa lately. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has been quite critical, and even one of Costa’s own teammates, Kurt Zouma has said Costa “likes to cheat a lot.” Although he did walk those comments back a bit on Twitter.
