According to multiple media outlets, Chelsea FC have agreed to terms with free agent goalkeeper Willy Caballero, and the 35-year-old’s arrival is expected to be confirmed soon. Some publications say the announcement could come within the next few days, other say as late as July 1st.
The Daily Mail reports that he’s completed his Chelsea medical, this making him the first addition for the Blues this summer transfer window.
Chelsea hope to confirm the signing of Willy Caballero in the coming days.
The Argentine, who was released by Manchester City, has already agreed terms and is understood to have passed a medical ahead of joining as a replacement for Asmir Begovic.
Yes, Caballero will be the new back-up to Thibaut Courtois. A reserve goalkeeper signing might not be the most earth-shattering of transfer news, but it’s only the appetizer to what should be a feast of transfer additions at Stamford Bridge this summer. The London Evening Standard reports that Chelsea are
a.) looking to add six players this window and
b.) closing in on two of them, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Romelu Lukaku
Chelsea are also reportedly battling Manchester United for the signing of three players- Cristiano Ronaldo, Radja Nainggolan and Alvaro Morata.
If the Evening Standard report ends up coming to fruition, with the Blues adding six new players this summer, then the potential for a truly blockbuster summer at the Bridge is very real.
