In the past week or so it finally became an exciting summer transfer window at Chelsea. Who will be the next to join manager Maurizio Sarri and midfielder Jorginho as new arrivals this summer?
Who will be heading out the Stamford Bridge exit door? Let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet today. As always, until it’s actually an officially done deal, take the rumors with a grain of salt.
-It’s well known that Real Madrid are pursuing the Blues’ Belgian duo of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, but the west London side is simply just not interested in selling. We’ll take a look at the latest transfer talk surrounding both players, starting with Hazard.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Chelsea would not part with the 27-year-old even for the astronomical sum of £170 million. That figure would make Hazard the second most expensive player in history behind only Neymar, if you’re scoring at home by the way.
If that price is still not enough, then it’s hard to imagine any sum that would be enough to finally get this long discussed deal over the line. The Mirror goes on to say that Chelsea want to keep Hazard long term; beyond his current contract that expires in 2020. The west London side, the Mirror claims, are willing to offer the forward a new deal worth something in the neighborhood of £300,000.
Regarding Courtois, the Sunday Express writes that the Belgian number one has told his friends that a move to Madrid, where his two small children and ex-girlfriend live, is now “viable.”
If Courtois does actually leave, who would be his replacement? Well, you have to include Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as a name on that list. Friday night Hart saw his first action for City, albeit in a preseason friendly, for the first time in 695 days.
He’s obviously not wanted by City, where he would be the third choice keeper in his best case scenario, so where does he go?
Major League Soccer, and perhaps maybe even the Chicago Fire, might make a great fit for England’s #1 at the 2014 World Cup.
#ChelseaFC are the Surprise Favorites to Acquire Joe Hart from #ManchesterCity, but #MLS are strong contenders too.
The #ChicagoFire #cf97 would make a perfect fit. https://t.co/YNrd5iY3MN #ManCity #CFC— Paul M. Banks (@PaulMBanks) July 21, 2018
-What’s the latest regarding the summer long transfer battle between Manchester United and Barcelona for Chelsea winger Willian? Going back to the Express, Barca are fearful they will lost this race, as it’s been claimed the Catalan club have had three bids rejected by Stamford Bridge already.
Chelsea are not reportedly not interested in selling him, and you can read more about that at this link.
