As we head into the home stretch of the summer transfer window, it promises to be a very news worthy nine days at Chelsea FC. Who will be the next to join manager Maurizio Sarri and midfielder Jorginho as new arrivals this summer?
Who will be heading out the Stamford Bridge exit door? Let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet today. As always, until it’s actually an officially done deal, take the rumors with a grain of salt.
According to Leicester City manager Claude Puel, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, a reported Chelsea target is staying put. The same goes for central defender Harry Maguire, a man heavily linked to Manchester United.
“I think we can keep both players. It is crucial for us,” Puel said prior to tomorrow’s friendly against Valencia.
“We cannot lose players just a few days before the beginning of the season. We would not be able to find a solution and we cannot be behind. Kasper and Maguire are so valuable for us. It is important to maintain our structure, our squad and all our valuable players for the team.”
The Foxes have already parted ways with Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City, club record £60 million) this summer, so they’re not exactly keen on parting ways with any other star players.
In sticking with the Leicester theme, West Ham United have been linked with Chelsea’s 2017 summer transfer window buy from the Foxes, Danny Drinkwater, yet again via the Daily Mirror,
However, it’s hard to really see how and where the £35 million man fits in, given how the Hammers already bought a midfielder, long time Arsenal man Jack Wilshere, this summer. Midfield isn’t really a position of need right now at the London Stadium, and Drinkwater commands a high price for a position that’s already decently filled out.
The Hammers have been very busy this summer, as adding Drinkwater would potentially make it eight players signed.
-It’s an all Premier League edition of Chelsea FC transfer talk, as our final item concerns another England top flight player.
Chelsea went shopping at fellow London club and arch-rival Arsenal in the January window, in the form of striker Olivier Giroud. Will they do so again this window, via Welshman midfielder Aaron Ramsey?
Well, the bookies have really slashed the odds on Ramsey making a potential move to west London, so much so that Chelsea are now the favorites to sign him. Check out the Daily Express for more on that.
