With the hamstring injury to Alvaro Morata, there are some known unknowns, and some unknown knowns. The Chelsea FC striker will be further assessed by the club today at their Cobham training facility with his having now been excused from international duty with the Spanish national team.
Spain announced yesterday that he had been dropped from the side due to a grade two myofascial hamstring tear, leading to widespread reports that Morata would be now out for up to six weeks.ย
He may indeed be “gone till November” as Wycleaf Jean would sing, but today Chelsea plan on finding out for themselves, as they will do further medical assessment at some point this week.
One thing is for sure, the narrative that manager Antonio Conte was espousing initially in the post game news conference on Saturday (that the injury to Alvaro Morata was not serious), was certainly wrong.
As of now, it’s apparent we really don’t know all the specific extent and detail of the Spaniard’s injury situation. ESPN FC writes that “Chelsea will not know the full extent of Alvaro Morata’s hamstring injury until he undergoes further assessment at the club’s Cobham training ground later this week.”
In terms of what big games Alvaro Morata could miss, the big domestic clash versus Manchester United on November 5 jumps right off the page at you, as do both legs of the UEFA Champions League group stage tie with AS Roma. Of course, we’re still awaiting official word on that.
