The heat is starting to get turned up on Arsenal FC manager Unai Emery. The club is lacking leadership, as the man voted team captain, Granit Xhaka, has been a disaster in the skipper’s role. Midway through year two of the Emery regime, the Gunners haven’t improved at all above where they were at the tail end of the Arsene Wenger era. There is already a fairly strong #EmeryOut contingent present within the base.
So if Emery were to actually be sacked, who would be next? Well, there is one guy out there who definitely wants the job- Jose Mourinho.
Yes, the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid boss who has been working as a television pundit here and there since getting sacked by United last December, is keen on the gig.
So would Arsenal actually go from Wenger to Emery to Wenger’s arch-nemesis?
That remains to be seen, but we according to multiple reports, all over the world, the Special One would be all about it.
Here’s a link to the NBC Sports and the ESPN articles about this topic. It’s not a very likely scenario to play out, but it’s certainly something for those at the EFL Cup game tonight (Arsenal visits Liverpool for a round of 16 tie) to talk about.

Liverpool have won 14 straight at Anfield going back to February 27. The last time they didn’t win on Merseyside was against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16. And as you might have heard, Arsenal has some issues with their road form to say the least.
