Anthony Martial has been with Manchester United since summer transfer window deadline day, 2015, when he moved over from AS Monaco for £37.1 million. He has now poised to leave, and this time the transfer fee could end us being just under £7m. That is one very sharp rate of depreciation there.
Of course, that can happen over the course of nine years; especially when you go from being aged 19 to age 28. So where is he going?
Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce, according to Sky Sports. They have submitted a bid of £6.8 million, which puts them ahead of the other potential suitors, West Ham United and Inter Milan. Given that the forward will see his contract expire in the summer, you can see why the offer for him is low (relatively speaking).
Martial has 90 goals scored, across 317 appearances, during his time at United.
The Frenchman has only one Premier League goal scored this season, in 13 appearances. The past few seasons have seen Anthony Martial suffer through numerous injuries, and a big drop in form. United have been trying to move him on for years, even loaning him out to Sevilla two years ago at this time.
The French striker failed to impress while in Spain, and thus here we are. Over the years, he’s been linked to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus, Tottenham etc. over the years. So he isn’t gone yet, and no deal is truly done, until it finally made official. Anthony Martial could still stay put, believe it or not.
