Will Ferrell has been heavily promoting the Anchorman sequel to “The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” It’s getting pretty absurd, the over-promotion of the film, and we still have two weeks to go until the movie comes out. Thursdayโs 6 p.m. SportsCenter was slated to be hosted by Ron Burgundy and Champ Kind, characters – played by Ferrell and David Koechner, respectively – in the comedy classic โAnchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundyโ and the upcoming sequel, due out before Christmas.
But, it seems that will have to wait for another time. With the announcement of the Jameis Winston sexual assault investigation results coming Thursday, the 24-hour sports marketing network decided to hold off on putting the comedy team on its flagship show.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see Ron Burgundy. I can’t wait. But we don’t want the movie to get ruined before we see it! That happens with comedies quite easily. And this hype. It will have to be the funniest movie ever to live up to this kind of hype! Borat was the only movie as heavily over-promoted as this, and it was hysterical. It lived up to the hoopla. Ron Burgundy was pushed the marketing envelope beyond this.
In what promises to be one of the most significant moments in the history of media, veteran KVWN Channel 4 News anchor Ron Burgundy will guest host The Dan Patrick Show today from 9 to 11 on NBCSN.
Ron Burgundy will join host Dan Patrick in-studio from Milford, Conn. on Thursday morning, marking the veteran newscasterโs first time co-hosting the program.
โIโve been lucky enough to work with some of the greats โ Costas, Michaels and now Mr. Ron Burgundy,โ said Patrick. โThey said it wouldnโt happen. Some are still saying it shouldnโt happen. But at 10 a.m. tomorrow, something is going to happen.โ
โAnchorman 2: The Legend Continuesโ arrives in movie theaters nationwide on Dec. 18.
