You heard it here first in May of 2013; a full day and a half before the actual announcement was made. Carrie Underwood became the new Sunday Night Football singer. She replaced Faith Hill last fall with the SNF on NBC theme song.
Also, it should be noted that no one, and I mean no one, cares about who breaks a news story first other than individual reporters. And really only the individual reporter cares about the stories that he/she broke first.
As NBC announced this afternoon:
Carrie Underwood returns to star in the special “Waiting All Day for a Super Bowl Fight” opening theme for NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX.
The opening theme will contain new elements, including lyrics featuring the Patriots and Seahawks, and a special set design.
“I’m so honored to again be a part of the Super Bowl, this time joining NBC Sports in helping kick everything off! I can’t wait to watch the game!” said Underwood in a prepared statement.
