Time to cue up the Allen Iverson “PRACTICE?? We’re talking about practice man.” rant. 3,100 people showed up to watch the Ohio State football team practice indoors today.
Think about it: Ohio State had 3,100 fans show up for a practice that had a change-of-venue within an hour of its start.
Seriously, Central Ohio must be sorely lacking in entertainment/recreational activities.
And remember this is spring college football practice, not the fall during actual football season. This is baseball season or Stanley Cup Playoffs season or NBA season or analyzing the NFL Draft season.
Ohio State fans aren’t just nuts, they’re BUCKNUTS! At one point the crowd started chanting and clapping “UrbanMeyer… UrbanMeyer… UrbanMeyer.”
Meyer wanted to bring the students closer to his team, and his team closer to students, and that was achieved with a live field goal drill with hundreds of fans on the field surrounding the action.
I think I need to invest in developing an entertainment complex and cultural center in Columbus. I need to give the fine people of the Buckeye state more to do in their spare time.
