If people only know one college fight song, it’s the Notre Dame fight song. If they only know two, then Michigan would be the second. The Notre Dame fight song will be played a lot this week in the MEGAHYPE and SUPERHYPE leading up to the huge showdown versus #2 Florida State. So we’re going heavy on ND this week leading up our ALL CAPS GAME PREVIEW on Wednesday morning.
As well we should as this game evokes memories of their titanic clash in 1993; the last time the Fighting Irish beat a #1 ranked team. You’re well aware of how ESPN is extremely obnoxious in their over-coverage of Florida State and Jameis Winston. Bristol will be even more insufferable with that this week as their partner, ABC, is televising this game and College Gameday is coming to Tallahassee. If FSU wins, the World Wide Leader will go full on CNN-and-the-missing-plane with Jameis winston and FSU if they win.
ESPN won’t be quite as obnoxious on ND if they win because they’re not the broadcast rights holder for Fighting Irish games; NBC is. And all sports networks, ESPN included, are obnoxious in their coverage of teams/leagues where they hold the rights.
Regardless, the winner of this game will soon absorb a lot of new fans into their base- the front-runner, fraternity type fan boys. They could become the Miami Heat of college football.
However, you must admit, whether you love or hate ND, the college football world is a much better place when Notre Dame is nationally relevant. The Notre Dame fight song attests to this.
