Northern Illinois earned the first BCS bowl bid in school history where they will play Florida State in the Orange Bowl, SI.com reported Sunday. The official announcement won’t be made until later tonight.
With a 12-1 record and a second straight MAC title, NIU moved up to No. 15 in the BCS poll to qualify for the bid, according to Pete Thamel of SI.com, who attributed the report to an inside source.
The Huskies lone loss was the season opener versus the lowly Iowa Hawkeyes. They are a very underrated team with an especially efficient passer and explosive playmaker in QB Jordan Lynch. FSU will be heavily favored.
