Michigan State isn’t known for just basketball anymore. The football team at the hoops haven is really making a name for itself.
State is off to their first 7-0 start since the national championship year of 1966. The first BCS standings of the college football season came Sunday night, and since MSU is the only undefeated Big Ten team left, they lead the way among conference representation at #7.
The top five consists of Oklahoma, Oregon, Boise St, Auburn, and TCU. Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 include #10 Ohio State, #13 Wisconsin, #15 Iowa and (sort of) #16 Nebraska.

Head Coach Mark D’Antonio articulated what it feels like to be 7-0:
“I think it means that we’re getting there. When we came here, we didn’t want to win one year and out. We didn’t want to be a team that won one year and then had three down years. We wanted to recruit with longevity. We wanted to recruit and have players come here as high school seniors and evolve. When you can do this, you’re building a program. It’s hard, very hard, in the Big Ten Conference, because it’s very competitive. You feel good about it. When you talk about 47 years, I was 11. That’s not a bad deal.”
