Jen Bielema hasn’t been very vocal on Twitter lately.
I think we can figure out why.
Last month, Jen Bielema became a “lightning rod” or “polarizing figure” when she tweeted the word “karma” in the wake of the Wisconsin Badgers having a game stolen from them by the referees and handed to the Arizona State Sun Devils on a silver platter.
It was just one tweet; just one word but it became a huge story both in the Midwest and nationally. It caused a huge uproar in Madison, where her husband Bret Bielema had a bitter divorce from Athletic Director Barry Alvarez and the University.
And if Jen Bielema didn’t know before that event, she does know now that tweets can be news stories today. It’s enough material.
So that’s why she’s been pretty quiet these last two weeks on the micro-blogging platform. Yesterday, as the Alabama Crimson Tide obliterated her hubby’s team 52-0, her only tweet was a very vanilla RT of Houston Rockets wing and former Razorback Ronnie Brewer. The day before she also tweeted just once, a collection of motivational catch-phrases including #BeatBama
Jen Bielema also RTd @InspirationalQuotes a couple times, which contained nothing more than greeting card pablum.
On the day that the Razorbacks got DESTROYED COMPLETELY by the South Carolina Gamecocks, she only tweeted twice: garden variety stuff about being fired up for college football gameday.
So with all these entertaining and witty insights, you can understand why she has 25,000+ followers.
The Razorbacks started 3-0, all of their wins coming against mid-majors and low-majors. Then they lost 5 in a row. They’re winless in the SEC.
“Obviously this is getting a little old,” Bret Bielema said to open his postgame media session yesterday.
Jen Bielema has 26,000 followers; but it’s certainly not due to tweeting anything even remotely interesting.
