The top recruit in the nation, Jabari Parker from Chicago (Simeon career academy) picked the Duke Blue Devils over Michigan State, BYU, DePaul Florida and a whole host of other big name college basketball programs. He answered questions at the 2013 McDonald’s All-American media day about why he chose Duke, detailed the powerhouse of Simeon, and why he looks up to Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose
Jabari Parker is pretty much a lock to be one-and-done to the NBA. We have him going third overall in our 2014 NBA Mock Draft. By the way, you’ll want to watch this video of Jabari Parker touring Simeon high school. It’s pretty cool. The father of Jabari Parker, Sonny Parker played in the NBA and is reknown in the Chicago Public League. There is a prominent history of Simeon-to-the-Illini, and Jabari did consider University of Illinois before picking Duke. So two locals missed out on the services of Jabari Parker as he is heading to Durham, instead of Lincoln Park or Champaign.
Oh and he wouldn’t take the bait when I asked him about the UNC Duke rivalry.
