The situation revolving around the Penn State Nittany Lions pedophilia scandal is truly unprecedented and earth-shattering. Sadly, we know these types of atrocities are committed in numerous places outside State College, PA.
And it turns out there’s another University with a similar revelation this week. The Citadel spokespeople say they’re commenting on this incident now because of media requests since the arrest of a former camp counselor.
The Citadel, a famous military school in South Carolina, revealed Saturday that it had investigated accusations against a camp counselor but (just like at Penn State) took no action. The suspect has been jailed since then on five counts of molesting young boys.
From Reuters:
“We regret that we did not pursue this matter further,” Citadel President Lt. General John Rosa and Board of Visitors Chair Doug Snyder said in a statement.
The Citadel said it investigated four years ago accusations of inappropriate conduct with children by Louis Neal “Skip” ReVille, who was a counselor at the military school’s camp.
ReVille is a graduate of The Citadel, the college said, and worked as a counselor at the school’s camp for three summers between 2001 and 2003.
