It sure didn’t take long for the serious injury bug to bite a NBA superstar. Less than a week after practice began, and a couple a days before preseason games begin, we have an announcement on the status of the Chicago Bulls’ Carlos Boozer.
The forward sustained a fracture of his right hand (5th metacarpal) on October 2, 2010. He was evaluated by team physician Dr. Brian Cole and hand specialist Dr. Marc Cohen of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. The fracture will require surgery and Carlos will likely be out 8 weeks.
That timetable means he’ll miss every preseason game (not a big deal) but also the Bulls first month of the season (kind of important, especially with that ominous “circus trip” looming in November. We know the Bulls always struggle during that long road swing. Would have been good to have all hands on deck for that one).
