Tonight, three members of the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s National Team and NWSL playoff bound Chicago Red Stars: Lori Chalupny, Julie Johnston and Christen Press will throw the first pitch and sing the 7th inning stretch at the Cubs game.
Christen Press was the woman of the match Saturday night as Chicago beat New York 2-0 Saturday night and gave themselves a significant boost in their battle for second place in the NSWL standings and the right to host a postseason semifinal on September 13.
They’ll take on USWNT hero Carli Lloyd and the Houston Dash Sunday at Toyota Park.
Christen Press, Johnston and Chalupny also did the first ball on-field ceremony last week at the Cell for a Chicago White Sox home game.
