Kansas Jayhawks super-recruit Perry Ellis. Yes, his name is exactly like the famous clothing designer, so will he be a fit at the Phog? Is he dressed for success at the level of big time college basketball? (c’mon you knew I was going to do some stupid clothing/designer pun, if the suit fits, wear it!)
Ellis is a 6-8 forward center from Wichita Heights who talked about why he choose to stay home close to KU.
“I’ve felt most comfortable there, they’ve been recruiting me since my eighth grade year, so I went there all the time,” he told me at the McDonald’s All-American game.
“It’s not too far, it’s not too close, when I needed to come home, I can come home.”
Kansas loses quite a bit from this year’s national runner-up team including the highly acclaimed Thomas Robinson, one of the best players in the nation this year. But Bill Self is one of the best coaches in the game, and he’ll regroup with what he has returning, and what he has coming in. Eliis talked about what was so impressive about Self.
“how he develops players,” he said.
Ellis, who’s favorite players are Lebron James and Kevin Durant knows what he needs to work on to become an elite player.
“I just want to get out and guard point guards and guards I think that will really help me”
