The Michigan Wolverines football program will open the 2014 season with another match-up against Appalachian State at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 30. You remember the first meeting- the 2007 season opener?
When the defending FCS champion Mountaineers stunned the Wolverines, 34-32, as ASU blocked a field goal attempt that could have won the game for Michigan at the end of regulation. It was the first-ever game broadcast by the Big Ten Network, and truly an upset for the ages, and that final play was one of the most oft-replayed highlights of that football season.
Here’s video highlights from that game
And the school’s promo video that made the rounds across the media landscape “HOT HOT HOT!” back then. It’s just filled with unintentional comedy.
