It’s no secret that Messi and Ronaldo are the two most popular football players in the world right now. Their popularity is not without a good reason, as they have done a great job at popularizing the game by attracting countless fans from all parts of the globe.
However, we still can’t help it but wonder how exactly they became so popular. What do the demographics of their fans look like? Answering these questions was hard until Betting-Sites collected all of the relevant information into an infographic comparing the professional and private lives of the two football megastars.
According to the infographic, Brazil and Argentina are the two countries where Messi and Ronaldo are the most popular. We already know that these South American countries are crazy about football, but they seem to have their own idols as well.
In Brazil, Ronaldo is more popular than Messi by 3%, while the exact opposite is true for Messi in Argentina. On the other hand, it seems that the USA fans do not care much about world football, as only 30% of Americans know who Messi is, and 40% know about Ronaldo.
Worldwide, the situation is very different. If we take the whole world into account, we’ll see that 87% of the population has heard about Messi, whereas 92% knows about Ronaldo. The 5% is not a trifle when you consider the world has almost 8 billion people.
Ronaldo also seems to be more popular among ladies as 91% of his fans are women, whereas females make 84% of Messi’s fans. Moreover, it seems that the two players are most popular among the younger demographics, aged between 25 and 34.
These stats prove that it’s quite hard to tell who is more popular among the fans. If you’re a fan of Messi or Ronaldo and you want to learn more interesting facts about them, make sure to read the rest of the awesome infographic below!
