It’s another international break and thus, kind of a slow time when it comes to big headlines, but there’s still a whole lot of important Manchester United news items out there. Here are links to some of the more relevant United news stories currently circulating on the internet.
-Paul Pogba says he would love to play alongside Neymar someday.
-Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic made the list of the most impactful Premier League summer transfer buys by NBC Sports. Lukaku was #5 and Matic was #3.
-When Marcos Rojo learned that Alexis Sanchez was leaving Arsenal, and heading to United, his reaction was priceless.
From TYC Sports, translated by The Mirror,
“Every time we came up against one another, whether in internationals or when United played Arsenal, I would give him a good kicking – and he did the same to me.
“On top of that I used to insult him, and he would reply in kind. So when I learned that he was going to join United I said: ‘Oh, ******* hell, no, now this guy’s going to be here’.”
-The very embattled Luke Shaw, once again back in Jose Mourinho’s doghouse, received a very strong backing from Ashley Young. The man who battles Shaw for playing time at the left back position issued a very powerful vote of confidence in the young Englishman.
“He is a fantastic player. I feel he can be one of the best in the world. As I say, you’ve just got to work hard.”
“Of course, everybody in the squad pushes each other on,” Young told Press Association Sport. “We’ve got a healthy competition in our squad and when you’ve got world-class players training day in, day out, everybody wants to be in that team.
“Everybody wants to be in that starting XI. It is tough. I’ve always said, when you join a club like United it’s a tough place to play at. But if you play and you train there and give 100 percent, then get your opportunity and I’ve always said you always get your opportunity there.”
