There has obviously been a ton of negative publicity surrounding the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero, but it’s nearly impossible for anyone write something bad about last night’s Opening Ceremonies. Brazil is known for music, especially the samba genre, and South America’s most popular nation truly brought their A-Game in this regard.
So many great individual performances, but if you had to single one out, it would be Anitta, the 23-year-old Brazilian pop sensation. The Rio native truly stole the show, and it’s easy to see why she really might just be “the next big thing.”
Have a watch below as Anitta and friends perform at the Olympic opening ceremonies:

On the heels of that eye-opening performance Friday night, Anitta was obviously a very hot topic on social media late last night and well into Saturday. She is definitely a name that you’re going to be hearing much more in the near future.
