It was a horrendous match day experience for many England fans, including Rebekah Vardy, wife of Leicester City/England striker and Arsenal FC target Jamie Vardy (here’s a link to the latest on his transfer situation).
Just a disgusting, despicable, disgraceful display at the England-Russia match in Marseille today, which could end in UEFA taking sanctions against Russia. It was the 2016 European Championships tournament opener for both sides, ending in a 1-1 draw but more importantly a hideously ugly scene that was headline news worldwide.
Groups of Russian fans stormed past outnumbered stadium stewards, who offered little to no resistance, on their way to attacking England supporters.

ICYMI: Russia fans charging England fans after the game #RUS #ENG https://t.co/Rt0j3GIAb7

The incident came after a third day of violence in the Mediterranean port city left as many as 20 England fans injured, with reportedly several seriously hurt in bloody clashes between rival fans.
French police had used water cannons and tear gas on rioters hours before the game started.
One of the individuals caught in the crossfire was Rebekah Vardy herself, who wrote on her Twitter account:
“That has to be up there with the worst experience EVER at an away game! Teargassed for no reason, caged and treated like animals! Shocking! I witnessed this with my own eyes! I can’t comment on things I didn’t see but what I got caught up in was horrific and uncalled for!”
Making the day he even worse for the Vardy family, Roy Hodgson never played him a single minute today.
