Last summer, Everton scoring sensation Romelu Lukaku had been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, but it didn’t happen.
The Belgium and Toffees striker didn’t end up returning to his former club, but according to The Telegraph Lukaku would like to see that move realized now. The Premier League’s leading scorer, who has two years left on his current Everton deal, has developed into quite a star at Goodison Park, but he never scored, not even once, during his three years at Stamford Bridge.
Thus, he’s eager to prove that he can flourish at the West London club.
But, to get his way, Lukaku may have to hand in a transfer request and leave Everton with little option but to sell him to Chelsea.
Lukaku has already stunned Everton by telling them he will not sign a new contract, just hours before he had been due to put pen to paper on a five-year deal last month.
The Telegraph understands Lukaku was due at a meeting to sign a new contract only to undergo a change of heart on the day of the scheduled get-together.
Transfer gossip earlier this summer indicated that Everton wanted as much as £75 million for Romelu Lukaku. That’s big time money, obviously, but the article cited above kicks that amount up a notch. The publication claims that Everton are prepared to fight vociferously to keep him, and in doing so will slap a £100 million price tag on Lukaku.
