Jurgen Klopp is took his Liverpool team to train in Barcelona, and then watch the club’s UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach.
This according to ESPN FC, who write:
The source added that Klopp’s players had a recovery session in the Spanish city on Monday and trained again on Tuesday morning…The source said defender Joel Matip was training with the team in Barcelona after missing the Bournemouth game with an ankle injury.
Obviously, it’s a chance to leave the weather of northwest England for the warmer climate of Catalonia, which no one will have a problem with, especially now in December. Of course, it’s no holiday, it’s a business trip. It sounds like Matip is getting closer to coming back and the Reds could certainly use him.
The team reportedly flew to Barcelona right after their entertaining, but very disappointing 4-3 loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. The defensive lapses you saw in that game spotlight just how much Matip matters to this team. The FC Barcelona UCL match against Gladbach is at 7:45 PM BST tonight.
