How did this story slip through the cracks this week? Listen to what Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said at Big 12 Media Days this week. I embedded the entire video below, but he basically said crime pays. Bowlsby said that cheating is done, it makes those who cheat better, and they get away with it.
The money quote (pun intended) from Bob Bowlsby is this: “If you want to cheat, you can do it, and you can get away with it. That needs to change.”
So here you have someone at the absolute highest level of college football telling you that the system is in fact broken. He’s right. Without subpoena power, and the threat of perjury, as Bowlsby pointed out, these investigations have no teeth.
Exactly like the Mitchell report investigating steroids in baseball. Same exact problem. It’s reason #234,567,987,456,832 the current model/system is BROKEN, and the NCAA cartel is a dinosaur.
