Comcast Sports Net Bay Area has confirmed that Jim Harbaugh will take the Michigan job. If the CSN San Francisco affiliate is going with it…..it’s got to be for real. They even claim an introductory press conference will be held on Tuesday.
It’s (time for the Michigan football community to celebrate the Jim Harbaugh, hopes, dreams and wishes. We’re now there. There are lots of outlets “reporting” a deal is imminent. The latest is CBS 5 in Phoenix. The television station KPHO, via their sports anchor Joe Pequeno, says a verbal agreement has been reached, but no contracts have been signed.
Pequeno also claims that Harbaugh will tell the Niners after Sunday’s game that he’s leaving for Ann Arbor, and the school will introduce him as the next Head Coach on Tuesday. MGoBlog, 24/7 Sports, something called “Detroit Sports Rag” also all reported that this was happening a long time ago. ESPN talking head Marcellus Wiley tweeted on December 19th that Jim Harbaugh to Michigan was a done deal
Although he sort of backed off from that in later tweets.
We’ve all heard the specifics of the offer: 6 years, $48 million. (Although that report has been denied too) The highest-paid football coach at a public university is Alabama’s Nick Saban, who will make $6.9 million a year for the next eight seasons. So the supposed Jim Harbaugh deal will totally blow that out of the water.
So…..
